Email Copywriting

Words that survive the inbox: subject lines, preview text, welcome sequences, calls to action, and the formulas worth keeping.

10 guides 40 min of reading

Email copy has an unusual constraint: the first two things a reader sees, the subject line and the preview text, are written in a box that does not look like the rest of the email and are often the only part that gets read. Most copywriting advice ignores this and treats an email like a short landing page.

These guides split the job into the parts that behave differently. Subject and preview earn the open. Body copy earns attention through the middle. The call to action earns the click. A message can be excellent at one and useless at the others, and the metrics will tell you which if you know what to look at.
